"For this mat, I collaborated with my brilliant designer, Ania Borysiewicz to create a look that was equally feminine (artistic, beautiful) and masculine (architectural, minimalist, urban). We always strive to create designs that capture my inner philosophy and style - Taoist, simple, elegant, intelligent and a play on Shiva-Shakti. We drew on a Japanese Zen aesthetic with a maze of coral in my favorite color - the vibrant distinction of burnt orange.”

As an Australian native, surfing was always part of her life growing up and the surfboard itself was something of an icon for sun, beach and beautiful bodies! Elle integrates Kundalini in her hollistic approach to looking and feeling fit. This mat has been photographically generated from a bamboo longboard with a mahogany inlay. These inlaid flowers are Frangipani's'; Indigenous to Australia and one of Elle's favorite flowers.

“A photograph of a palm leaf from the Atlantic oceanside rain forest in Itacare da Bahia, Brazil, my 2nd home, is the Muse inspiring my mat. The leave’s sinuous texture and tributaries extend from a strong central core and reminds us of the strength and beauty of returning to and emerging from one’s own organic center. This region in Brazil has been identified by UNESCO as one of the 25 hot spots on the planet in need of protection due to its unique bio-diversity including crystalline ocean waters, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, a myriad of wildlife and 456 different species of trees per hectar (2.3 acres).”

“Atma means 'Soul' or 'Self' in Sanskrit. It is the eternal inner essence of who we are, the inner light that shines within each of us. Yoga is both the process and the experience of the union of mind, body and soul. It was our intention in creating this mat to create a sacred space on the mat to awaken the higher consciousness within each of us. This mat is the representation of the Cosmos, both macro and micro. Om is the symbol of the absolute, the primordial energy of creation and sun and moon represent the cosmic forces as well as male and female. The triangles represent the trinity as well as being the esoteric symbols for male and female. The great central sun at the center is both our inner light and the light from which all things come."
