About Susan Grace Designs

Susan has been designing and making jewelry from her studio in Los Angeles since 1996. She LOVES making jewelry. She has always loved making things with her hands, ever since she was a little girl. She loved to watch the design of needlepoint, embroidery or macramé unfold before her eyes! This still excites her!

Susan trusts the materials she is drawn to. Susan is often drawn to a stone or color first and THEN she researches the energetic properties of the stone and those properties always bring a more profound, complementary meaning to her creation. Every piece she creates has meaning to her. For her, jewelry is an expression of the soul as well as a beautiful adornment for the body. She likes to create designs for their simple beauty and recognizes there is a deeper expression in the metal, symbol and choice of gemstone. As with most life experiences, there is more beneath the surface, more than meets the eye! She handcrafts every piece of jewelry in her collection with intention and loving care. Susan is honored to share her creations with The Y Catalog.

Susan works in sterling silver and 14K gold-filled primarily, and will work with 14K gold upon request. 14K gold-filled is 14K gold permanently bonded to silver. The gold is bonded using a carefully controlled process of extreme heat and pressure for a precise length of time. The substantial layer of gold surrounding the inner alloy is regulated. Gold-filled jewelry is strong, durable and wears like solid gold because the outer surface is solid gold. The gold in gold-filled will not chip or wear off as in plated jewelry. I use 14K gold-filled as it has the core durability my designs require.

Susan has been designing for the lead characters of Desperate Housewives since the show began and for the full 6 seasons. She has created jewelry for numerous television and film projects, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Ghost Whisperer, and the soon to be released, Little Fockers. Her jewelry has been seen on the red carpets of the Emmy Awards and the SAG Awards, worn by Felicity Huffman.

 All Susan Grace Designs jewelry is handcrafted to order. No two pieces are exactly alike due to nature’s organic beauty and my crafting each piece individually. Gemstones are all unique in their shape, size, color and inclusions. This is what makes her designs unique and treasured gifts.
