I launched the company in 2003, with only one trademarked product at that time...SKIDLESS®...a towel that goes on top of a yoga mat to prevent the practitioner from slipping. I came up with the idea after personally slipping on my mat during practice.upon completing the prototype , I had an AHAH moment, that SKIDLESS could be useful in several markets. so I decided to apply for a patent...FIVE years and THREE patents later...we have a full line of yoga and fitness products, which all came from my own need during my practice.
people often ask how I chose our original signature colors BLUE and ORANGE...I actually went by what the colors represent: BLUE is the fifth chakra (throat)- representing FREEDOM of EXPRESSION, and ORANGE - the second chakra (sacrum)- representing CREATIVITY and SEXUALITY.
I came up with my logo and company name through two very inspiring moments...
originally I had created a dot at the top of my SKIDLESS to serve as a drishti (focal point). one morning as I was practicing on my prototype, a yogi walked by and said, “cool logo!” and I thought... OK the dot will serve as a logo too! Another time, I was in navasana (boat pose) when my teacher, Chuck Miller passed by being his joyous self saying “Susan HAPPY TOES, spread your toes!” and I thought “YOGITOES” and that is how the company name came to be!
to date, yogitoes has grown by word of mouth only. we are committed to supporting mother earth, bringing love and awareness to children, and empowering women around the world. As we unfold, yogitoes unfolds...a process that has been an extraordinary journey to witness and learn from.
